John P. Griffin, J.D., and L.L.M. (Taxation), has over 20 years
experience in the employee benefits field. Mr. Griffin presently is a
principal of Global Benefit Advisors, L.L.C., a pension consulting firm.
Mr. Griffin was previously a Vice
President of Pension Publications of Denver, Inc. (PPD) and a senior
consultant with the Human Resource Advisory Group of Coopers & Lybrand. Mr.
Griffin is also a Certified Financial Planner.
Prior to entering private consulting, Mr. Griffin worked in the Employee Plans Division in the National Office of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a Tax Law Specialist. With the IRS, his primary responsibilities included the review of prototype retirement plans and the training of IRS personnel. Mr. Griffin also has seven years of experience with the U.S. Department of Labor. Mr. Griffin has written numerous articles and lectured extensively on employee benefits topics. He also services as an editorial advisor for the Journal of Pension Planning and Compliance. Mr. Griffin received his B.S. (summa cum laude) in Economics and Business Administration from Towson State University, and his J.D. and Masters of Law in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center.
